Denver Rescue Mission

Mike and I had a wonderful meeting with May LaClair, Manager of Special Events, at the Denver Rescue Mission, yesterday afternoon. As you know, Visceral is all about community and because of that we wanted to make sure we were giving back to it. The Denver Rescue Mission was an obvious choice for us since they are a thriving local non-profit. May was excited to hear about what we were doing and was equally excited to help us promote the event. You will find us on their site in days to come, but until then please take the time to visit them at www.denverrescuemission.org.

Thank you May for the work your organization does and for allowing us this opportunity to give back to our community.

Call for Photographers

Visceral:09

We are currently seeking photographers for our 2009 Visceral Photography Exhibition to be held October 10th at Photospace Denver. Visceral's goal is to inspire local non-traditional photographers to express themselves through their art.

Visceral is in the process of selecting 10 amateur photographers to exhibit work at the October show. Our vision is that each photographer will find the inspiration to take themselves artistically beyond what they felt was previously possible with their work. Also, to aid in helping them further themselves as photographers, Visceral is recruiting mentors for each photographer involved in the exhibition to instruct them along the way.

If interested in having your work considered, please submit 5 electronic photographs or send a link to your online portfolio to photos.visceral@gmail.com

Marketing Meeting Update

We would like to welcome Bill McDonnell to the Visceral team. Bill is joining the group to help guide and direct the Visceral marketing campaign. Highly professional and talented, Bill was a star. He came to the meeting having already formulated a few great ideas and even show a few photos of his own. You can check out Bill's work at Rivet 2&3d. Again, Welcome Bill!

Of course, we could not talk about the meeting and not say something about Corrie Vela from Helpers. She always has a new idea and is not shy to bounce them around. It's incredible the kind of ideas that form from this kind of brainstorming session. Thanks Corrie for all your help.

As always, there is more to come so stay tuned. We are going to have a great time and an awesome show. Keep clicking!

photospace: Visceral Exhibition Venue

I'm very happy to say that the Visceral project now has a venue and date for our exhibition. Dan Jahn stepped forward and donated his studio for an exhibition on October 10, 2009. Dan's studio, photospace is 2500 sqft space in the Santa Fe art district of Denver, CO.

Rick and I met with Dan this morning to see the space and found the studio to be a large professional space. The photospace studio is without a doubt more than we could ask for.

Let's hear what people think.

Call for Organizers

Visceral:09 is in need of talented photographers who are willing to invest their time and creativity in the organization of a photo exhibition to be held in Denver, CO during the month of September 2009. Participation as an organizer will provide you with a unique opportunity to make a difference as a leader and mentor in your photography community, as well as the opportunity to be fully expressed in your own artistic work though display at the Visceral:09 event.

Prior to this event, there will be an open call for photo exhibitions for the September show. Here, you will interact with and enroll both seasoned and emerging photographers of all ages. These exhibitors will have the unique opportunity to increase their own personal exposure to the Denver community, as well as directly contribute to the local artistic community through full self-expression and creativity.

Through your participation, your vision and input will be an integral component to the success of this event. If you are interested in organizing and participating in this event, or if you are interested in further information, please contact Michael Fajardo at mjfajardo@gmail.com, or Rick Lopez at memekode@gmail.com.
